My comments on tutoring Elementary Phonics : The past 25 years I have beenn teaching Reading, Language and Arts in the Oklahoma Public School System. I have a Reading Specialist Certificate and have taught small group interventions (5-6 students) which involved reinforcement with phonics skills: synonyms, antonyms, homophones, homonyms, pronunciation of letter sounds, identification of vowels,, consonants, vowel pals, and have worked a lot with English as a Second Language Students to help them learn the English language.

I spend a lot of time teaching small group interventions which focuses on the Reading Sufficiency criteria that is mandated by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. I have also worked with many Gifted and Talented students preparing them for Writing Contests. My passion is encouraging students to look forward to the Core Curriculum Test. In the past I have been given the opportunity to teach Art and Writing and mnay of my students have produced Writing Portfolios of which they are extremely proud!

Teaching has been a motivation for me for all of my working life.
