My comments on tutoring Marine Biology : Was a Marine Biology minor in college. I also worked for over a year and half as a Marine Mammal Biologist.

I obtained a B.S. in Biology, with a concentration in aquatic science, from Wittenberg University in 2006. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored elementary students in math and science twice a week for two years. After college, I moved into the marine science profession. In August of 2008, I started teaching High School Biology I, Earth and Space Science, and Physical Science to students in Polk County. In addition, after school hours were spent with two students taking AP Biology classes. Both students achieved a 4 or higher on their placement exams. My tutored students reported an increase in their ability to record class notes, study, and take tests. 15 years experience in a broad variety of subjects!

I have a way of perceiving the difficulty the student has, and am able to explain the material in a simple way that makes it easy for students to grasp. I have a good rapport with my student and have had several that have told me that I am the best teacher they have ever had(which didn't hurt my ego!!) A Little Bit About Me...

I have a lot of experience tutoring friends and classmates throughout my college career. There are a couple students I have worked with for a couple of years, who are people I met through school and work. I mainly tutored in English Composition and English Literature, as it is my main area of study and I'm very experienced in it. I'm back at UCF now as an English Major and am taking classes in Communication Disorders because I eventually would like to work in Special Education. I graduated from UCF in 2006 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, and I've been working as an engineer and project manager in the field ever since. My job requires several certifications that I've had to complete and pass, which is to say math and science are two subjects I use on a daily basis! Math and science are subjects I excelled at while in school and I do have some previous tutoring experience among family friends (the students I tutored were in middle school and high school).
I was involved with a youth program for most of my time in college, so I am able to relate easily to a variety of ages and work with them in such a way that they feel comfortable and confident. My teaching style is relaxed but still organized, and I do a good job of communicating with students no matter their learning style.
