Most of my professional teaching experience was with Lexington/Richland School District 5, where I substituted and taught General Music from 1997-2008. During that time I worked with students from Pre-K - 5th grade, and I enjoyed interacting with each age group. One interesting thing about teaching music was how the lessons often carried over to other subjects, so that in music class we also worked with math and science (music theory), reading (song lyrics), and social studies (music origins and styles). I earned my BA in music and was trained vocally for six years in sacred and secular styles of music. I also was trained for fourteen years in piano. More recently, I have taught piano and voice privately. I am experienced with the organ and saxaphone as well. I love working with children and adults of all ages. I have been pursing my degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of South Carolina. I chosen to take a hiatus from the University so that I can gain more experience working with young children in an educational setting.
