Most of my professional teaching experience was with Lexington/Richland School District 5, where I substituted and taught General Music from 1997-2008. During that time I worked with students from Pre-K - 5th grade, and I enjoyed interacting with each age group. One interesting thing about teaching music was how the lessons often carried over to other subjects, so that in music class we also worked with math and science (music theory), reading (song lyrics), and social studies (music origins and styles). In addition to classroom experience, I have also worked one-on-one, teaching private piano lessons and tutoring with an adult literacy program. My college credits included 15 hours in French and an English minor.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with children and students of all ages. I was a volunteer at Shriners Childrens Hospital for many years in the recreational therapy department. I was a "class teacher" at a friend's daycare part time, and I held a summer job as a lifeguard and swim instructor for many years. I find that when teaching something new or difficult, it is best to find a way it relates to each individual. Once you discover this, you can make it fun and relavent for them.
As a graduate of a Health Science program at a competitive public university, Clemson University, I showed an understanding of many science disciplines. I am a well qualified music teacher. My teaching experience has been in the classroom and privately. I earned my BA in music and was trained vocally for six years in sacred and secular styles of music. I also was trained for fourteen years in piano. More recently, I have taught piano and voice privately. I am experienced with the organ and saxaphone as well.
I love working with children and adults of all ages. I have taught preschoolers and adults. I am patient and attend to the student's individual needs. No lesson is the same for any one student. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been pursing my degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of South Carolina. I chosen to take a hiatus from the University so that I can gain more experience working with young children in an educational setting. During my time at the University I gained valuable knowledge and experience with developing lesson plans, assisting teachers and interacting with young children. All through school I have had a passion for learning. This passion continued into college where I earned two degrees from Columbia College. While earning two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Dance and Religion, I have gained knowledge in critical thinking through applying learning to life, English and grammar through writing papers and reports, and many daily skills acquired through general education courses.
