Presently, I work as a teacher's assistant in special education. I earned a BA in English Literature from one of the finest private colleges in the Southeast. Maryville College encourages students to be life-long learners who seek cumulative growth through experiences. I am a published author and have organized and researched an original thesis paper. As a teacher's assistant, I work with learning disabled students in areas such as reading literacy and logical distinctions in meaning of symbols and signs in language. When teaching, I want to instill in each child a love for learning. I do this, first of all, by setting the mood of the classroom - meaning, I make it conducive for learning with an attitude of happiness and respect for each child; believing that I can find attributes that I like about each child, and making the atmosphere pleasant, cozy, and fun. Secondly, I instill the class rules with positive outcomes so the environment is always positive. Usually this takes about a week of consistency, then my class is ready to take off! Once they know the rules, know you are going to be consistent, and enjoy coming to your classroom, then, learning is fun!

I believe learning is about confidence. I have seen numerous students doing poorly in courses because they were convinced that they were not capable of learning the subject matter. Small successes help to build confidence in order to move on to the subsequent challenges. I believe in starting with the basics, and making sure that the students truly grasps the subject matter before moving to more difficult concepts. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always loved children. Children are precious and all have very unique learning techniques. When I was a senior at Maryville High School, I taught Spanish to first graders. My partner and I were in charge of making lesson plans and fulfilling these plans for each class. I really enjoyed seeing the children get excited about learning.
I enjoy seeing children learn new things. I know that every child learns differently. It is important to get to know the children that you are teaching and figure out what teaching technique fits there needs. I feel like I do an excellent job of portraying what I am trying to teach.
