In other words, teaching words without establishing a proper sense of the meaning of those words dulls the intellectual life. I taught for the public school system in Memphis, TN for 17 years with 15 of those years in the same school. I have taught kindergarten, first, second, and third grade and for 3 years I taught a second/third split class of exceptional students. I quit teaching for a short period because I adopted 2 children overseas. However, I worked part-time as a computer instructor for preschoolers for about 2 years. For the past 2 years, I have been trying to continue my career as a teacher, but have not been able to because of the economy. I have spent these 2 years, substituting, as an interim teacher, as an assistant, and tutoring for a company called A to Z.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe learning is about confidence. I have seen numerous students doing poorly in courses because they were convinced that they were not capable of learning the subject matter. Small successes help to build confidence in order to move on to the subsequent challenges. I believe in starting with the basics, and making sure that the students truly grasps the subject matter before moving to more difficult concepts. Often, it takes several different approaches before a student is able to understand the concept. I believe that with patience, I can find the right approach and help most students perform at a higher level.
