I love teaching both school-age students and adults. I believe the three most important qualities a teacher can bring to a student are expert skills in the areas being taught, patience, and optimism. I truly believe all students can learn, and I provide a safe atmosphere that encourages risk-taking (the willingess to make mistakes for the benefit of learning), exploration and expansion of background knowledge, and the progressive acquisition of new material. I received my BS in Accounting 1988. While getting my degree I was involved in the on campus tutoring program. I have tutored students in, accounting mathematics, philosophy, marketing, business law, finance, and religion. Since graduating from college I have had several training opportunities in various jobs. When teaching, I want to instill in each child a love for learning. I do this, first of all, by setting the mood of the classroom - meaning, I make it conducive for learning with an attitude of happiness and respect for each child; believing that I can find attributes that I like about each child, and making the atmosphere pleasant, cozy, and fun. Secondly, I instill the class rules with positive outcomes so the environment is always positive. Usually this takes about a week of consistency, then my class is ready to take off! Once they know the rules, know you are going to be consistent, and enjoy coming to your classroom, then, learning is fun!

A Little Bit About Me...

While completing my undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering at University of Idaho, I was often called upon to tutor people within the building where I lived during college. I also was employed by the University to grade papers and offer assistance to underclassmen in the Chemical Engineering department.
