I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I love being able to help students feel comfortable with the material they are studying. I have tutored numerous times throughout college, and would like to get back into tutoring students because I find it to be rewarding. I went to school at the age of 23 and graduated at the age of 29 in May 2010. Throughout that time, I worked as a machinist and labored as a father of two boys. These may not be official credentials, but the experiences of teaching my own boys and training uneducated workers has given me a depth of patience that most others lack. It is this patience, I have found, that allowed me to be successful as a teacher’s assistant in my Number Theory course. This course met twice a week; once for the professor’s lecture and once as a student only discussion. I have found that the best way to teach math is through analogy and real world examples. I prefer to teach general as opposed to specific methods, as these are more widely applicable. However general methods appear to be best taught through specific examples and with a great deal of patience. I study the student's learning style in order to infuse the new material as easily as possible. Additionally, I introduce new ways to understand the material, and then observe the student's reaction.
I graduated Rutgers University majoring in Biology and German, and minoring in Chemistry. I have a strong science background, which I will continue to expand by completing a PhD at Yale starting in the Fall.
