I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I love being able to help students feel comfortable with the material they are studying. I have tutored numerous times throughout college, and would like to get back into tutoring students because I find it to be rewarding. As a student who went from living in Germany and being taught that there are many ways of getting the right answer, to moving to America where everything is taught in one way, I have learned to incorporate my tutoring skills to the need of each individual student. I like to take students step-by-step through the process of finding answers to complicated questions. I am a strong believer in teaching the student to think for his or herself. If I'm asked a question, I prefer to help the student find the solution rather than simply give the answer. Through college, I learned that the best way to absorb information fast is to find patterns. A Little Bit About Me...

Most math education is pure calculation. This is important, but becomes tedious. Many children can’t learn like a computer and thus lose interest or struggle. My approach is different. I focus on logic and fundamentals because all of mathematics is logically built on a very simple foundation that anyone can understand. This foundation is necessary but often neglected. I believe I can build this foundation in anyone. Mathematics also has a lot of interesting history, and I know a lot of stories. A well placed story of humanity is often emotionally helpful. Overall I foster a relaxed environment, but never too relaxed. This is mathematics after all, the most rigorous academic discipline. But rigor will be a result instead of a prerequisite.
