More About This Tutor...

I'm a college student double majoring in criminal justice and psychology. I've taken through calculus I in high school and I was considering a math major. I've tutored peers, siblings, and younger students in math, forensic science, psychology, and biology. I'm still learning, myself, but I got all A's in my math classes in high school.
I tend to pay a lot of attention to method, using specific problems as examples. Method is more important to me, as it expands to other problems.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored high school students who are college bound during my undergraduate years at William Paterson University of New Jersey. I also tutored my fellow undergraduates. I then pursued a doctorate and was active in many peer study groups where were tutored each other in neuroscience and organic chemistry. I have a love for science which shows through my enthusiasm in imparting scientific knowledge to others.
My style is dependent on the student. While the end result is having a student understand the material, the way of achieving this varies with each person. Some students require a lot of hand holding while some require a more hands off approach. To achieve understanding I will cater to the students needs.

Elementary Tutor

With each new student comes the opportunity for a new teaching style. Each child learns in a different way.
I have been a tutor at a local elementary school where my students were very successful. As a future teacher, I am learning and growing in the skills necessary to now take on and help educate children in the common core. I have been an assistant teacher, a teacher's aide and an after school teacher. I have worked in many different settings including pre-school, elementary and middle school. My degree also focuses on special education, so I have acquired skills to help focus in that area.

My comments on tutoring Psychology : Degree in Behavioral Science

I have a varied style, which is geared to the learning style of my students. I teach world to text, text to text, text to life.
I was employed by the Lakeland Central School District as a substitute Teacher Aide and later in a full time capacity. I worked for the OASIS Program and later at the Alternative High School. After completing my Bachelor's Degree at Concordia College, I applied for and was accepted into the New York City Teaching Fellows Program. I taught Special Education at a high needs urban high school in the Bronx. This was a challenging and rewarding experience. Many of my students continued on to post secondary schools. I am currently finishing my Master's degree program at City College of New York, expected graduation is May 2013.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a life long learner, and encourage all students to be life long learners as well. I love working with all children and have a true confidence that all children can learn, although possibly through different teaching styles. I am patient and work well with others (parents/guardians/professionals) to meet the needs of each and every student. I find that the environment in which the student is placed plays a major role in how and what is learned. My main goal is to make a difference in all students' lives and find that the most rewarding parts of teaching derive from the nurturing relationships I forged with every student and the sense of confidence they felt as they experienced success and growth within themselves.
Through my University’s thorough teacher preparation program, I worked with general education students and students with disabilities. I promote the development and w ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I believe that all students learn in their own way and that a teacher must get to know his or her students in order to evaluate their strengths and specific needs. It is important to give students guidance, but also to teach them to work independently to boost their self-confidence. I constantly seek feedback from my students and their parents to find the best way to help them succeed.
As a graduate of Yale University, I recognize the value of education for the generation of young people who will soon run our country. For the past year, I have tutored students in a wide variety of subject areas: English, History, Geometry, Biology, Spanish, French, and SAT prep. I work well one-on-one with students of all ages and ability levels.

A Little Bit About Me...

I moved to California with nothing more than a suitcase and a desire to see new places. While I was there I was fortunate enough to work with a group of formerly incarcerated young women who were affiliated with the Center for Young Women’s Development. I created a writing workshop geared toward teaching these women to use their voices and to use writing as an outlet. When I returned to Connecticut, I enrolled in the Internship program at the University of Bridgeport and I have just completed my second Master’s. During my Internship I spent a lot of time helping students with their assignments in the library and in the classroom.
I strive to facilitate student-centered learning and to be accessible to my students. I love to motivate reluctant learners and share my enthusiasm for written and spoken language. I am calm, patient and kind and never offer constructive criticism without ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that there is no such thing as a "bad" student/child. There are children that need more help and attention than others but everyone deserves the same amount of effort. I am very patient and laid back and really want to provide the best care possible to all children that I teach. I believe that students learn best when they are completely involved in the lesson. I like hands-on activities and less lecturing. The children that I teach now could testify to my ability to bring humor into the classroom and to make sure that learning is fun.
I received my BA from one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country. In addition to my psychology degree, I also studied Spanish extensively. Based on the liberal arts education that I received, I am fully capable of teaching a number of subjects including Spanish, History, and English. Currently, I teach Spanish and US Histor ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I'm a SCSU graduate with a GPA of 3.6. I recently went back to college to pursue a career in Anesthesia. I have a Bachelor Degree in Biology, an Associates Degree in Chemistry. Experience as a 7th and 8th Grades Science Teacher and also as a Tutor. The children needed serious help! - the Magnet School they attended told their parents they would have to work really hard in order to continue attending the school. After a couple of months under my tutoring and motivating skills they became #1 in their classrooms! I have a great gift of not only teaching a specific subject but also developing in the student a desire to succeed! My early recollection as a teacher is as a fifteen-year-old teaching ESL classes to adults.
I'm a very motivated person with a great sense of humor! I have attended seminars and read many books about motivation, people skills and children learning/developmen ... read more
