I started tutoring students middle and high school prior to graduating college. I have taught part-time college students at various institutions since 1996. I solve problems. I am a bioanalytical chemist and biomedical engineer. This profession requires using math, statistics, biology and chemistry at a high level on a daily basis as I develop products that improve healthcare. I have taught or tutored science and math from elementary to post-college level for over 25 years in diverse settings.

A Little Bit About Me...

I began my work, with youth, in 1983 when I worked with incarcerated youth at the Highland Youth Center in upstate NY. I later taught high school social studies at Mount Vernon, HS in Mount Vernon, NY where I also tutored after school. I eventually traveled to Benin, West Africa where I taught at a local British School and taught and tutored at the American Language Center. I have experience teaching diverse populations.

I have always found that the best teachers are the ones who are able to explain the same concept in a variety of ways, so this is what I seek to do when teaching. I also attempt to not only teach a student how to do a problem, but also to gain a "big picture" view of the concept being taught; i.e., I want the student to be able to not only apply the concept to problems of the same type that he/she does in homework, but also to related problems that he/she might not have previously seen.

A Little Bit About Me...

For over twenty years I have taught at the college level, with extensive expertise in teaching the liberal arts to engineering majors. Much of my work is directed towards teaching research, writing, editing, and analytical skills. I have expertise in writing, editing, research, and most importantly, synthesizing information. While in college, I tutored for three years at a home for 'wayward' boys.
