My comments on tutoring PSAT : 10 years tutoring experience

Different students have different 'keys' to learning. I utilize a flexible approach which seeks to 'unlock' the potential in each individual student.
I have been tutoring for over 10 years in all types of Math, including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus etc. I have also been tutoring in Chemistry and Physics. I started tutoring students middle and high school prior to graduating college. I have taught part-time college students at various institutions since 1996. I also have worked as an independent tutor part-time. I have more than 30 years of experience teaching as a one-on-one tutor and as a college instructor. I currently teach at Wake Tech Community College. My experience is primarily in the field of Structural engineering and mechanics, which involve physics and mathematics heavily. I have spent six years at North Carolina State University studying engineering which involved advanced mathematic concepts while earning a bachelors and masters degree. I have a year and a half of experience in the field of structural engineering in consulting which has allowed me to increase my skills in engineering as well as general mathematics. A Little Bit About Me...

I began my work, with youth, in 1983 when I worked with incarcerated youth at the Highland Youth Center in upstate NY. I later taught high school social studies at Mount Vernon, HS in Mount Vernon, NY where I also tutored after school. I eventually traveled to Benin, West Africa where I taught at a local British School and taught and tutored at the American Language Center. I have experience teaching diverse populations.
I love teaching and watching students learn and grow. I feel that tutoring gives, a teacher, an opportunity to give a child one-on-one attention, therefore, enhancing one's potential at learning.
