Upon enrolling my children in school, I decided to be an active part of their education. So, I assisted their teachers with everything I could. Eventually, I became a trusted part of the school system (an honorary teacher, so to speak). They began giving me more responsibilities, concerning the children of the school. I tutored hundreds of students to increase their FCAT results, single-handedly; I corrected documents, daily; I worked on setting up the computers for the teachers and students, and I trained both to use them. Teaching science is not about teaching facts. Science is based on theories, which evolve through the process of discovery. Thus, it is important to teach a student not what to think, but how to think. With little formal teaching experience, my philosophy draws on what I have liked in my teachers.
