While studying at MC, I took the opportunity to live and study abroad in Costa Rica, where I learned most of my conversational Spanish. After graduating from Mississippi College with a bachelor's in Spanish and a certificate in TESOL, I lived abroad in Peru working for an orphanage. Upon returning to the States, I worked as an ESL and Spanish teacher at both middle school and high school level. When teaching a language, I believe one should not only have the knowledge of the grammar and syntax, but the skills of communication. Thus, I implement a lot of conversational English and Spanish in my lessons within the classroom and tutoring. My teaching style includes more than one style because different children learn in different ways. For example, a child may learn by doing(I would use the demonstration-performance method). Another may be an auditory learner where I would use the lecture method, on a child's age level of course.
