In this last teaching job, I had a few individuals who I helped with some classes of the GED through the Rankin County Schools. I love teaching kids and adults and love working to see each one of them grow in their own way. Each person learns in a different way and it takes special people to work with them.

I'm currently attending Jones County Junior College through online classes. I will be attending Hinds Community College in the spring of 2012. I have a 28 on the ACT including a 33 in reading, 28 in english and math, and 26 in science. I at tented East Rankin Academy in Pelahatchie, MS. I was selected to multiple academic competions such as the ABC testing and Quiz and Science bowl I prefer to figure out how the student learns the best personally, whether through just hearing it or being shown examples and anything and everything in-between. While studying at MC, I took the opportunity to live and study abroad in Costa Rica, where I learned most of my conversational Spanish. After graduating from Mississippi College with a bachelor's in Spanish and a certificate in TESOL, I lived abroad in Peru working for an orphanage. Upon returning to the States, I worked as an ESL and Spanish teacher at both middle school and high school level. When teaching a language, I believe one should not only have the knowledge of the grammar and syntax, but the skills of communication. Thus, I implement a lot of conversational English and Spanish in my lessons within the classroom and tutoring. Depending on the age level, language acquisition techniques are changed to fit their interest level.

My teaching style includes more than one style because different children learn in different ways. For example, a child may learn by doing(I would use the demonstration-performance method). Another may be an auditory learner where I would use the lecture method, on a child's age level of course. While a different child may be a visual learner and in that case I would use many visual aids as well as do a lot of independent reading. Without testing, I would not know the child's exact learning style and therefore, would employ all three teaching methods/styles so as to maximize the learning experience.
