As a special eduation major, I was provided with various methods of teaching using adaptations and modifications to meet student's needs. I taught at the high school level for 3 years. As a requirement of the special education curriculum, I developed yearly attainable goals for each of my students with documented modifications for each area. I developed numerous activities and tasks for the students to perform in order to meet their goals for the year. The majority of my students were moderate to severely disabled, however, for the students whom I was able to teach subject areas to, I did so at the elementary level.

I love teaching and tutoring children of all ages. Although I have only formally been tutoring for about 6 years, I was a tutor all through my childhood helping other children learn when I finished with my classwork. Since first grade I have always wanted to be a teacher, although my brain tried to steer me in a different direction in college. Yet, my heart brought me back to teaching. With my numerous experiences in education, I think I could be a great asset in helping students become more knowledgeable. I have worked as a Tutor, Assistant Teacher, and did a short placement as an Interim Teacher. I can easily adjust to changing environments that will best suit the student’s potential. I was a Tutor in an after school program, and was an Assistant Teacher in a Special Education classroom. I finished an Interim Teaching placement in a middle school A.P. English classroom.
I have a somewhat relaxed teaching style that does not compromise the distinction or respect between student and teacher.
