I believe that I am in a unique position to help your students learn both physics and math. The experiences that I have had teaching various math courses and physics, I think, allow me to frame lessons that address the subjects in a way that dovetails with students’ previous knowledge, and asks and answers the essential questions that the math or physics curriculum should involve. Informal for large groups as I wanted the students to see me as like them, but with enough capability to inspire them to listen. I learned early on you cannot make anybody learn anything. You must inspire them to want to learn. At the 1-on-1 setting (tutoring level), I work at a very detailed level with the particular student I have with me at the time. Each one is sufficiently different to warrant different teaching approaches to maximum effect and retention. I graduated from the UConn with a B.S. in physics and a minor in mathematics. Because I have used calculus and linear algebra on a daily basis as a means of solving problems I have developed a fundamental understanding of mathematics; an understanding that only someone who has used thse mathematical tools extensively can achieve. I have been tutoring for the past four years. I began tutoring at UConn my junior year and was quickly the most popular physics and calculus tutor on my shift.
