I try to make each lesson unique for my various learners. I have been known to teach in historical clothing, using props from the time period and a smattering of words in other languages. I also incorporate hands on learning such as crafts and some food making. I believe if a method is not working for my students, I change my approach. I also teach in language they are able to understand since their vocabulary is much different than what we spoke in 1970 as well as referneces current to them. I have found Tupoc Shakur's poetry is more well received than Shakespeare with todays youth.
I am a former Social Worker from the Foster Care system. I realized thern I wanted to work with children, but more as an educator.
