My comments on tutoring American History : Do you want the history behind the history? Look to me for the reasons why things happened the way they did and how that affected history.

I like to involve all the senses: hearing new material; experiencing the reality of an abstract concept and finally teaching or responding it back to show that the lesson has been absorbed at several levels. I like to have fun with teaching so the student will learn to love learning for his or her self.

Give Real life experience a try

Experience throughout school, work and personal experience dealing with the mentally challenged and dyslexia. my best friend had a son who was dyslexic and also he had ADD and I got him to trust me in babysitting and I taught him various things. I taught him how to read and write he could not accomplish that on his own. He was 11 at the time and I think with kids you have to be creative to teach them and I am very creative. I also have an aunt who is mentally handicapped, and I love spending time with her she is a very giving person. They teach me and it is always a joy to work with them and give something back.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have yet to complete my senior year of studies at the University but I will be done by Spring 2011. I am working towards my first Bachelors Degree, BS in Physics and will continue with school after until I get my MS in Chemical Engineering. Physics and Chemistry have always come easy to me and I know that because of this I can help others understand these sometimes tougher subjects easier.

In preparation for college, I knew that in order to get into the kind of small private colleges I was looking for, earning a high enough score on the standardized exams like the SAT and ACT was very important. Although I scored very well on both tests, my writing and reasoning skills underwent great improvement in my college's intensive honors program for accelerated studies. Having taught both gifted as well as students with learning disabilities, the one factor I found in common with all of them, is that in order to get them to learn you have to first get them engaged. Although I believe that traditional teaching methods certainly have their place, I am a firm believer in thinking outside of the box, and there is no “one size fits all” when it comes to education. I worked with a lot of students who did not necessarily do well in traditional classroom settings, who suddenly became active participants in their education once I was able to show them that the subject could hold an interest for them outside of the classroom.
