As a graduate of the University of Florida, I studied Physics and played football as well. Earning a Bachelors degree in Physics, I studied all levels of Calculus, Differential equations, linear algebra, thermal physics, electromagnetism, chemistry 1 and 2, mechanics, quantum mechanics, and many other classes. Therefore, I am very skilled in the areas of math and science. I am more capable as a teacher and mentor to students in middle school and high school. While I have a lot of experience with elementary students, I find my best impact on middle and high school students. I like to use the Socratic method in which I try to make the student answer there own question, by posing other logical questions in which they can deduce the resolution.

The easiest way I can explain my teaching style is to begin with the fact that I have worked for Disney for the past 6 years. I always have a smile on my face, and I believe that encouragement is the basis for all true learning. Students need someone to encourage them more than feed them facts. By guiding students through new concepts and learning with them instead of for them, each student is building his or her own learning tools that are more likely to last than the tools their tutor may provide for one homework assignment and never use again. I love putting all the pieces of the puzzle together - those "a-ha!" moments when students have breakthroughs in learning and understand have to be some of the most rewarding feelings in the world. If there is anything I believe about teaching, in any form, it's that you need to be passionate about what you are teaching, yourself, before you can translate that to others seeking knowledge. I am incredibly passionate about English, and endeavor to transmit that to any pupil; furthermore, I am very understanding, patient, and sympathetic when it comes to a teaching style, but know how to motivate students to want to learn themselves. I do not teach merely to help students improve their grades, but look instead to further their understanding and develop their interests in subjects they feel uncomfortable with. One of my favorite forms of assessment is Great Leaps.I have used this program and have seen growth in all subjects with students.
