Experience Summary
Through high school and college, I have always excelled in academics. I received a 3 or better on multiple AP classes through high school: AP Spanish, AP Biology, AP Statistics and AP Calculus AB. I was given college credits for those classes, but also completed many other classes at the University of Florida, including: Writing about Literature, Astronomy, Physical Geography, Math for LS Majors, Educational Psychology, Classroom Reading, American Literature, and Introduction to Philosophy. Including these and all the required Music Education classes, I graduated from UF summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. I have many academic honors from the university, as well.
Teaching Style
The easiest way I can explain my teaching style is to begin with the fact that I have worked for Disney for the past 6 years. I always have a smile on my face, and I believe that encouragement is the basis for all true learning. Students need someone to encourage them more than feed them facts. By guiding students through new concepts and learning with them instead of for them, each student is building his or her own learning tools that are more likely to last than the tools their tutor may provide for one homework assignment and never use again. I love putting all the pieces of the puzzle together - those "a-ha!" moments when students have breakthroughs in learning and understand have to be some of the most rewarding feelings in the world.
