I feel that I can always learn something new everyday. I always wanted to teach but didn’t originally go that route. I have a BA in Speech Communications. I then went on to take some Sign language classes, but never felt complete. After about 5 years, I decided to follow my heart and go back to school and get a Teacher of the Handicapped Certification. I have had many experiences with a variety of disabilities including Hand in Hand, Special Olympics and teaching children with various disabilities in a classroom and one on one setting. I have always believed that the greatest mistake a student of science can make is to memorize the material; there is simply too much material to memorize. I tutor the way I learn: to work to make real connections between topics and avoid brute force meorization. The key to me is engage the student and attempt to make them like the material they are learning.
