Experience Summary
I feel that I can always learn something new everyday. I always wanted to teach but didn’t originally go that route. I have a BA in Speech Communications. I then went on to take some Sign language classes, but never felt complete. After about 5 years, I decided to follow my heart and go back to school and get a Teacher of the Handicapped Certification. I have had many experiences with a variety of disabilities including Hand in Hand, Special Olympics and teaching children with various disabilities in a classroom and one on one setting. I also have a K-5 regular education certification. I am a substitute teacher for all grades as well as a home instructor. I have been teaching for 5 years in a private school. I have taught Mathematics, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies.
Teaching Style
Through the use of my interpersonal skills, I provide a stimulating, positive learning environment filled with patience, understanding and motivation. I create a space where children feel comfortable learning with me. I believe that every child is an individual. For that reason, many different methods of teaching may be used so that the child can learn or excel in various subject areas. I love teaching and working with children and hope to make a difference in every child’s life that I tough.
