While in school I worked as a teacher's aide at Seaside High School, and taught 5th grade summer school for two years. After completing my education course work I received a contract with Monterey Peninsula Unified School District and taught at Los Arboles Middle School. I base my teaching on Vygotsky's theory of the Zone of Proximal Development. This theory states that a student can reach a higher level of learning through following the adult's model/example. As the student learns higher level skills, adult guidance is slowly phased out in order to achieve independent functioning. I work with each student's unique abilities and strengths in order to maximize their potential.
