Hands-On Learning

I'm currently enrolled in Kaplan University pursuing my certification to become a Registered Dental Assistant with Extended Functions. I have completed High School and obtained my Diploma in 2014. I am currently tutoring a middle school student (8th grade) in all given subjects. I range from simple homework help to comprehension of certain subjects.
I love to interact with children. I believe that children should be involved with their school work. Hands on work and visual interactions help when certain curriculums don't sink in. Involving children to learn, beyond taking notes, helps them understand difficult subject and also helps them retain them better to memory.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is straight and to the point. My goal is to make the kids understand that the only thing holding them back is themselves. Hard work and a desire to learn will win every time. I LOVE the moment when the kids "get it", when they become confident in learning.
When I entered college I was immediately drawn to tutor my peers as needed. I worked with the single mom's program at IVC and also did job coaching for the City of Long Beach Disabled program. Once I graduated from college I had the opportunity to join the Boys & Girls Clubs, specifically designing educational and technology programs. I enjoyed tutoring about 50 youth a day. As a result some parents requested that I run a special off hours program at their middle school to tutor the ADHD kids. I have always had a passion for teaching students who face challenges in their lives. My focus is on the student and his lifelong education above test scores. I know that all children can learn and work hard to connect with each of my students and to individualize their educational experience.
