Hands-On Learning

I love to interact with children. I believe that children should be involved with their school work. Hands on work and visual interactions help when certain curriculums don't sink in. Involving children to learn, beyond taking notes, helps them understand difficult subject and also helps them retain them better to memory.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always had a heart for helping those who are in need of some extra help. Being a kid who struggled in school, I know what it's like to feel like to have low sell-esteem about school, having the feelings like I am not smart enough or good enough. As a future graduate at Fresno Pacific, I want to inspire kids to believe in themselves and to realize how gifted they actually are in the realm of school as well as what they have to offer to the world! For the past four years and three months I have worked as a 5th and 6th grade corrdinator at a Baptist church. Within that position, I put curriculum together as well as taught it.I also have spent some time assisting in the classroom at different schools.
I love kids. But more than that, I want to help kids who are in need of extra help and academic attention. I want to inspire as well encourage kids that they can do anyth ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe every child is capable of matching and exceeding our highest expectations. Every child learns differently and that is my approach. I don't believe in cookie cutter education. I design programs around students interests, needs, and abilities. I believe that positive feedback and reinforcement get better results than negativity, and it is my job to help your child be successful. It is my job to help your child buy into their own education and realize how great it is to be a lifelong learner.
I have been working with students since I was in Middle School myself. I went to college to become a special education teacher and am currently working as a resource specialist. I work with students who have learning disabilities, are at risk, have emotional disturbances, autism, or just need a helping hand. I have also taught in general education classrooms.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is straight and to the point. My goal is to make the kids understand that the only thing holding them back is themselves. Hard work and a desire to learn will win every time. I LOVE the moment when the kids "get it", when they become confident in learning.
When I entered college I was immediately drawn to tutor my peers as needed. I worked with the single mom's program at IVC and also did job coaching for the City of Long Beach Disabled program. Once I graduated from college I had the opportunity to join the Boys & Girls Clubs, specifically designing educational and technology programs. I enjoyed tutoring about 50 youth a day. As a result some parents requested that I run a special off hours program at their middle school to tutor the ADHD kids. Every child in that program raised their grades 60% over the course of the semester. Since that time I have honed ... read more
