As a student of German at Bellarmine University, I was able to learn the German language through immersion experiences in Austria and Germany. I also studied German grammar and literature in depth through classes at Bellarmine. I was a tutor in the Academic Resource Center for two years as I was completing my degree and continued to work with students for a year after my graduation. I enjoy the German language very much and love explaining how it works to students. Though students learn in different ways, practicing both written and conversational German is imperative to be successful in mastering the language.

For the past two years, I have been teaching journal-writing and college classes at the Louisville Comprehensive Care MS Center. Prior to that, I have tutored students ages 7-40 in a various set of topics, primarily math and business subjects. My preferred style of teaching is student-lead. I believe in the Socratic method, but appreciate following a curriculum, as well. I volunteer at a Montessori school and I know that getting learners of all ages interested and excited about a topic is the key to retention.

My academic credentials include a BA from Hanover College and a MBA from the University of Louisville. I have been an Adjunct Professor University of Louisville 1994- 2008. I taught Business Statistics (Management 201) and Operations Management (Management 401). I also taught Operations Management for one semester in the MBA program at Fontbonne University in St. Louis MO. I have had training in the methodology of Six Sigma. Although not a Black Belt in Six Sigma, I have worked on many Six Sigma projects. These projects require an in depth knowledge of statistical methods. These include data collection, analysis, presentation and the development of action plans. Simply put my teaching style has always been to make the student comfortable with statistics. I use the scientific method of teaching. My style is Socratic. I believe, as Rene Descartes did before me, that human knowledge is innate, including our ability to learn and use language. I teach children to learn by given them the tools they need to think logically and abstractly. Life is dynamic, what happens today, will likely change tomorrow.
