'Retired' Biologist and Experienced Math Tutor

I have been teaching molecular biology to students and technicians in the laboratory for the past 12 years. In college I taught the human anatomy laboratory and a special research section to other undergraduates. I also tutored fellow students in College Algebra. I am currently tutoring students in math to prepare them for the GED.
I believe my job as a tutor is to find a way to help every student learn. I tell all my students if they don't understand the material, then I have to find another way to explain it. Teaching is my passion I enjoy seeing the end result, when the student sees what they have accomplished. That is my reward. Rather than tell the student the answer, I find a way to allow the student to discover the answer him or herself. One way how I do this is by asking the pupil smaller leading questions in order to put the pieces of the bigger picture together.
