Through my present position as a Substitute Teacher for the School District of La Crosse, my position as a Preschool Teacher, as well as previous experience gained as a student teacher in three placements over the duration of a school year, and volunteer work with the Coulee Region Head Start and Horse Sense for Special Riders (HSSR), I have obtained a wide range of experience with children of varying backgrounds and learning abilities in the age ranges of birth to age eleven. I enjoy teaching mathematics and biology. If the student is willing to learn in some fashion I can help him or her. I tend to teach by examples for mathematics and for biology I teach in a lecture style, answering questions in-depth when necessary. In both fields I can give in-depth explanations for concepts. Specifically in mathematics, deriving proofs is especially easy for me and could be useful for those students that wish to see the "why" of certain equations. In high school I worked closely with non-English speakers. I tutored them in the subject of reading and writing English. I have also helped tutor in a a college setting. I helped tutor composition students with English being their second language. I love teaching with children of all ages. Being from a background where English was hard to come by, I am very passionate in teaching/tutoring. My goal is to give the child a strong foundation of the English language.
