A Little Bit About Me...

I began my teaching career as a piano teacher in 1994, taught a pre-piano bells class & obtained licensure in Kindermusik in 1996. I obtained a BM in Piano Pedagogy in 1997. I then went out east to nanny for identical twins with Down Syndrome for a year which gave me experience with children not only academically but on a day to day basis as well as rooted me well in understanding children with special needs. I then completed a BS degree in Elementary Education & was a substitute for the school district for over 7 years. I have also been teaching piano lessons privately for 7 years now. I enjoy teaching mathematics and biology. If the student is willing to learn in some fashion I can help him or her. I tend to teach by examples for mathematics and for biology I teach in a lecture style, answering questions in-depth when necessary. In both fields I can give in-depth explanations for concepts. In high school I worked closely with non-English speakers. I tutored them in the subject of reading and writing English. I have also helped tutor in a a college setting. I helped tutor composition students with English being their second language.
I love teaching with children of all ages. Being from a background where English was hard to come by, I am very passionate in teaching/tutoring. My goal is to give the child a strong foundation of the English language.
