Experience Summary
I began my teaching career as a piano teacher in 1994, taught a pre-piano bells class & obtained licensure in Kindermusik in 1996. I obtained a BM in Piano Pedagogy in 1997. I then went out east to nanny for identical twins with Down Syndrome for a year which gave me experience with children not only academically but on a day to day basis as well as rooted me well in understanding children with special needs. I then completed a BS degree in Elementary Education & was a substitute for the school district for over 7 years. I have also been teaching piano lessons privately for 7 years now. I am currently teaching preschool as well. I enjoy all grade levels & intellects as I strive to be the best teacher I can in a variety of ways.
Teaching Style
Teaching has always been my passion & I enjoy every minute. I believe that all children can learn given the oppurtunity to learn verbally, kinesthetically or whatever way they learn best. Being a preschool teacher I have learned to be patient and strive to give each child the ability to succeed. I have also learned to be versatile in all of my teaching, trying different approaches to learning concepts when one approach doesn't work. I am open to children's thoughts and ideas & try to be a good listener. When frustration occurs I am able to calm the student & give them the redirection they need. Children are our future in every way & I try to help them be the best they can & achieve academic success as well as a good self esteem.
