My teaching philosophy and style is founded upon the belief that all children are brilliant and can succeed. My approach to teaching is highly individualized and targeted to meet a student's specific needs. All learning starts with a question, both by teacher and student alike. My role is both as teacher (coach and guide) and student (questioner). I should employ a variety of questioning techniques to better understand strengths and weaknesses, then prescribe remedies tailored for individual strengths and weaknesses, facilitating the learning process and desired outcome. During my ten-week internship at the middle school, I had five classes of sixth grade advanced reading students. Since each class was about 20 students, I had about 100 students in total. The middle school has about 908 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. Of those students, 58% are white, 24% are black, 8% are Hispanic, 4% are Asian, and 6% are multiracial.
