I believe in teaching students at their ability level and building them up to be able to comprehend and complete grade level work. I am able to express material in a variety of teaching styles, finding the one that works best for my student(s).
I have been working with children academically since 2004 in a variety of settings: one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring, and in the classroom. My area of strength is with students who are low learners or have learning disabilities. I am certified in both Language Arts and Math as well as Special Education and have been teaching both subjects in 7th grade for the past 5 years in Moore County.

Passionate about learning.

I have experience as a peer tutor. Since I am an avid reader, I love all things related to books, vocabulary, literature and English. I have young children that I help daily with homework assignments. I have also worked many years as a trainer in genetics. I am also a DI(directed instruction) volunteer for elementary school. A patient teacher to assist with learning.

I enjoy working with students who need to see visuals in reading and who need to have hands on experience in math.
All students can learn. Some just need a little more practice until they can consistently perform the task without assistance. I assist in teaching at Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. A Little Bit About Me...

While in graduate school, I acquired teaching experience as I taught a Counseling Theories course to undergraduate students for three semesters. I also taught an experiential counseling microskills course to students enrolled in a school counseling program. I have also provided mentorship for several counseling trainees over the last several years. I believe in teaching according to the curriculum. However, I will also pull in information from other historical and academic sources that will enhance the student's learning experience. I believe in allowing the student to prove their capabilities by allowing them to demonstrate their knowledge in different ways. I believe students should take exams but they are not the only way I test students understanding of the material.
As a history major, I have a desire to learn more and teach more about the past. I have learned so much about the present through studying the past. I have written numerous papers and completed projects while in college. These will help me to teach students how to organize, prepare, and excel in history.
