A patient teacher to assist with learning.

All students can learn. Some just need a little more practice until they can consistently perform the task without assistance. I assist in teaching at Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. I have been supporting student’s academics for over 8 years. My experience with students expands from pre-kindergarten to the 8th grade. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in history. In addition to that, I have studied two years of elementary Spanish. I believe in teaching students at their ability level and building them up to be able to comprehend and complete grade level work. I am able to express material in a variety of teaching styles, finding the one that works best for my student(s).

Passionate about learning.

I have experience as a peer tutor. Since I am an avid reader, I love all things related to books, vocabulary, literature and English. Although I am not certified to teach, I have taken quite a few teaching curriculum courses while attending North Carolina State University. As a history major, I have a desire to learn more and teach more about the past. I have learned so much about the present through studying the past. I have written numerous papers and completed projects while in college. These will help me to teach students how to organize, prepare, and excel in history.
I believe in teaching according to the curriculum. However, I will also pull in information from other historical and academic sources that will enhance the student's learning experience. I believe in allowing the student to prove their capabilities by allowing them to demonstrate their knowledge in different ways. While some teachers favor a direct instruction approach, I try to tailor my instruction to the growing and diverse needs of each student. Some are more auditory learners than others, therefore, for those you would need a lot of teaching by rote, i.e "do as I do", so to speak.
