The goal of reading is understanding written print. I have spent many years as a Reading Specialist working with small groups on their comprehension. Many were having difficulty in their assessments. Whether in K-2 or preparing for benchmark tests in 3-5, I take comprehension one step at a time. I also plan according to students' interests, which always helps understanding the written print! I have taught in a first and second grade classroom for ten years, and served as a Reading Specialist for k-5 for seven.
