I deeply enjoy teaching children from all different age groups, cultural, social and economic backgrounds. I believe that patience and working with each child to find their own unique way of learning is fundamental to the teaching process. Giving positive feedback while utilizing solid teaching skills helps each student to be motivated to achieve their best. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been working with youth for over ten years. As a private music instructor and substitute teacher I have had the opportunity to work with students K-12 with a wide array of abilities. During the school year of 2009-2010 I was a para-professional in a Kindergarten PDD class (pervasive development disorder/autism) where I helped administer IEP directed lessons for 8 children on the spectrum. A Little Bit About Me...

My mother is a reading development teacher. She works with Title 1 children every day in her job. Before coming to college, I volunteered over 100 hours working with a Title 1 child on her reading, writing, and math skills. She was in the third grade for the second time that year, and by no means can I take credit for the fact that she went on to pass that year, but I do believe I helped her by understanding her difficulties, working with her as someone who was interested in seeing her succeed. I am a very patient person, and most of all, I consider myself empathetic. I believe that teaching is achieved through understanding each child's specific needs and emotions, and working through the difficulties with firm, but kind leadership.
