I began my higher education at Tallahassee Community College in 1997. After receiving my AA Degree I transferred to F.S.U where I majored in Criminology with a minor in Spanish and graduated in 2003. Since that time, I've worked as a legal assistant/paralegal with different law firms in town. Recently, I decided to return to school and received my certificate in Massage Therapy.
The thing I love most about teaching is opening up someones eyes to something new and seeing the "wow" look on their faces. Sometimes certain subject matter is not always easy for a person to learn. I've always appreciated the teacher that went out of their way with a great amount of patience to make sure I understood. I take a lot from the amazing teachers I've had and would hope to be able to pass that on.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always found myself adept at teaching. I have a great deal of patience and a genuine fondness for instruction. As a journalism major from UF, I gained extensive writing, research and grammatical skills. I am a proficient typist and have an intimate knowledge of computers and various programs. I am grounded in functional math: an essential skill in reporting on the economy and science. I went up to pre-calculus in high school and took both Algebra and Logic in college. Current events and history were both fundamental in my schooling. My recent tutoring history is not formal, but I have helped many students and peers edit papers, understand their math homework and prepare for tests.
The teachers who continue to influence me and affect my day-to-day life are those who had a genuine passion for teaching and a contagious love for their subject. They were the best ... read more

While in Undergraduate School, I was a tutor in the Florida A&M University Chemistry Lab. This was my employment for my last year of Undergraduate Studies. After graduation, I taught for two years at an inner-city high school in Tallahassee, where I taught Chemistry, Chemistry Honors, and GED Science. I also was certified in Middle Grades Mathematics, and served as a tutor for students individually as well as a collective Educational Sponsor for the Boys' Basketball Team. I also have extensive experience in the field of mathematics, as I have taken classes from College Algebra to Calculus 3.
I love working with students, and I have an affinity for those students that are hard to reach, as well as those with learning disabilities. As a student with ADHD myself, I have patience for their difficulties. I have great patience with the students, as I want them to learn and experience edu ... read more

My mother is a reading development teacher. She works with Title 1 children every day in her job. Before coming to college, I volunteered over 100 hours working with a Title 1 child on her reading, writing, and math skills. She was in the third grade for the second time that year, and by no means can I take credit for the fact that she went on to pass that year, but I do believe I helped her by understanding her difficulties, working with her as someone who was interested in seeing her succeed. I am a very patient person, and most of all, I consider myself empathetic. I believe that teaching is achieved through understanding each child's specific needs and emotions, and working through the difficulties with firm, but kind leadership.
I earned my bachelor degree in Communications and Creative Writing (double major), which has attributed to my excellent verbal communication skills as ... read more

As an educator my teaching style is very laid back and easy going. I like my students to use there own knowledge to search for a solution while I give them a little bit of guidance. My non-threatening approach tends to win over students and helps them feel relax and not fear to ask questions. My goal is to improve all students in the areas of math and help them feel more comfortable when they encounter it on there own.
While attending Florida A&M University I always had a passion for Mathematics, therefore my first year I took Honors Calculus I and received a grade of a 'B'. From that point I completed my Bachelor degree in Computer Information Systems and took my passion in math and began to work on my MEd in Secondary education. During that time I had the opportunity to substitute students in 6-12 grade in two different counties. I also completed my student teaching experience at ... read more
