A Little Bit About Me...

I deeply enjoy teaching children from all different age groups, cultural, social and economic backgrounds. I believe that patience and working with each child to find their own unique way of learning is fundamental to the teaching process. Giving positive feedback while utilizing solid teaching skills helps each student to be motivated to achieve their best. I want to help each student I tutor to feel confident about their ability to learn and succeed. It is my goal to provide the proper academic tools for each child to achieve their personal best in a positive and nurturing educational environment. The teachers who continue to influence me and affect my day-to-day life are those who had a genuine passion for teaching and a contagious love for their subject. They were the best teachers, not only because they possessed the necessary knowledge, but because they were animated and caring and able to cater to students' needs. I believe all children can be made to see the benefits of education through the right teaching methods. If there is anything I do not know, I am able to research and learn about it independently. The most memorable teachers did not always know the answer, but they always knew where to find it or how to help the students find it. My mother is a reading development teacher. She works with Title 1 children every day in her job. Before coming to college, I volunteered over 100 hours working with a Title 1 child on her reading, writing, and math skills. She was in the third grade for the second time that year, and by no means can I take credit for the fact that she went on to pass that year, but I do believe I helped her by understanding her difficulties, working with her as someone who was interested in seeing her succeed. I am a very patient person, and most of all, I consider myself empathetic.
