My comments on tutoring Guitar : I have had 2 classes of guitar from FSU and I am a music therapist. I know the basic open chords and barre chords. No classical guitar experience.

I have played flute for 13 years and have played in many different settings including: Concert, jazz, solo, choir, etc. I studied under Dr. Shelley Binder for 4 years at the University of Tennessee, specifically working under the French school for flute. I worked with Rusty Holloway for 2 years learning the basics of Jazz and have performed in several small jazz groups. I also play guitar on a regular basis; I know the basic open chords and barre chords. I know how to teach the basics of guitar using the student's preferred music.

A Little Bit About Me...

I began my higher education at Tallahassee Community College in 1997. After receiving my AA Degree I transferred to F.S.U where I majored in Criminology with a minor in Spanish and graduated in 2003. Since that time, I've worked as a legal assistant/paralegal with different law firms in town. Recently, I decided to return to school and received my certificate in Massage Therapy.
The thing I love most about teaching is opening up someones eyes to something new and seeing the "wow" look on their faces. Sometimes certain subject matter is not always easy for a person to learn. I've always appreciated the teacher that went out of their way with a great amount of patience to make sure I understood. I take a lot from the amazing teachers I've had and would hope to be able to pass that on.

The teachers who continue to influence me and affect my day-to-day life are those who had a genuine passion for teaching and a contagious love for their subject. They were the best teachers, not only because they possessed the necessary knowledge, but because they were animated and caring and able to cater to students' needs. I believe all children can be made to see the benefits of education through the right teaching methods. If there is anything I do not know, I am able to research and learn about it independently. Throughout my existence I have found myself in the role of teacher. Whether it be academic or physical, I have been blessed with keen abilities, as well as an ease in communicating ideas. This, I believe, stems from a need to comprehend not just the action of something, but the reason for that action as well. I really enjoy teaching and working with students and continue to develop new ways to make learning fun and engaging.
