I graduated with double BA in Music Education and Music Performance in classical guitar from Florida International University in 1997. My start in music began with trips from a young age to my mom's rehearsals. As a young child my first instrument of interest was the drums and noticing that I wasn't that good (sister playing better) I quickly moved on to other instruments. During my tenth grade year I joined my high school's marching band playing the trombone. I decided to continue the trombone as my primary instrument while in college at Grambling State University. There I was also able to study other instruments such as bass guitar, piano and organ. Going to college in Louisiana, which has such a musically rich environment, allowed me the opportunity to play venues such as casinos, clubs, appear in commercials and even a halftime show for super bowl 32 as well as other NFL games. I do not like the students to just give me a one-page summary of what they have learned, that is the old-fashioned way. My father’s friend who was also taking the class was blind and he needed help with his math homework. No one at the community college could help him, so I spent a few hours a day helping him with his math. When I was still in high school, I was hired by the college to tutor blind students in math.
