My comments on tutoring Grammar : I have 33 years experience as a high school English teacher and 2 years experience as a GED instructor. Grammar is a favorite area for me to teach.

I particularly enjoy one-on-one teaching; I also enjoy asking students questions to draw from them the knowledge they are seeking.
I have taught English at the high school level for 33 years, both in public and private school. Currently, I am an instructor for a GED class. I team taught with a special education teacher for several years and encouraged the private school where I taught to hire a special education teacher at the high school level. I have taught all levels of English, from vocational English to low level students to honors students.

The majority of my secondary education has been dominated by the manipulation of words and formulation of arguments. My studies during college, culminating in the achievement of a BA in English, have allowed me to hone my mastery of the English language. A Little Bit About Me...

Being a student who had reading comprehension in early grades, I understand the shyness and frustration many students have with this difficulty. I respond to them with compassion, and often open up to them with a short story of my own experience. This way the student feels that I understand them and are more willing to learn the material I am trying to teach them. In the beginning I will sit down with the student and their parents to see what is their area of difficulty. If available, with permission, I will contact the student's teacher(s) to see what areas he/she needs to be tutored on to bring them up to their grade level. As a graduate of both Purdue University and the University of Kansas, I place a premium of education in my own life. In my view, education is never wasted and helps people to understand various facets of the world we live. As an undergraduate at Purdue, I tutored other undergraduates with college algebra during my last year. I found these students benefitted greatly from my tutoring.
