My comments on tutoring Guitar: I've been teaching the basics to guitar for the past 6 years.

I have always approached a teaching lesson as a learning opportunity. Learning is a fundamental skill. If you don't have your basic fundamentals, your student will have difficulty advancing. So, I always start with basic fundamentals such as; note taking, study skills, and comprehension! All sciences demand the ability to link concepts together. Ex. cells make up tissues, tissues make up organs, organs make up organ systems,etc.....! By understanding the make-up of cellular structures and relating that to tissue functions the students can fully understand a subject. This proves true with all subjects. By impowering the student with good base fundamentals, my students find it easier to link concepts together. I obtained a B.S. in Biology, with a concentration in aquatic science, from Wittenberg University in 2006. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored elementary students in math ... read more

Adaptive I have an extensive math and science background. I've worked specifically with CAD for over 10 years. I can adapt to any student's learning style and help them understand the core principles that are necessary for building true understanding of complex topics. I enjoy playing the guitar and love to help others find enjoyment in learning how to play a musical instrument.

I like to have the students actively participating in the lessons. They enjoy working out the lesson examples and problems on the media that is used so all of the class can see the successes and where we need more work and explanation. Hands on work is very valuable such as working with graphing calculators. The students enjoy manipulatives and technology where they can make their own discoveries. Math and the graphing calculator have become one in the same, so I use them constantly in the classroom. I have been teaching for seven years-mostly math and some language arts. The math teaching included geometry, algebra 1, algebra 2, basic high school math and middle school math. One year my students had the highest improvement in standardized math test scores in the district, for the lower level students. My student test scores have always been high so I retained the scores. Each child is different. I always try to notice and acknowledge what benefits each student, as I think this applies to all forms of teaching from academics to athletics. Getting on their level is what ultimately benefits the child from the get go and gains their interest. If I'm interested, then the child is interested. I do my best to make sure the child is setting their goals and doing their best to achieve them in the way and style for which they are best suited. I have two bachelors degrees, however, I believe it is my experience teaching children that has helped me develop a good sense on how to approaching teaching scenarios. I have years of experience teaching children in academics, music, and dramatic arts, as well as coaching basketball and teaching golf at the professional level.

I love teaching and playing the guitar. I believe that music and the arts are an essential part of a well-rounded education. I am patient and easy going and I love working with children. I believe it is possible for anyone to learn to play the guitar regardless of talent or musical ability. My study method provides a basic understanding of music theory as it applies to the guitar through a series of exercises, the use of visual aids and hands-on experience. My goal is to create an enjoyable, positive way for each student to discover their own ability to make music. I have been playing the guitar for 35 years. I have played professionally in numerous bands and have been a musician for most of my life. For the past 5 years I have been teaching friends, neighbors and their children how to play the guitar. I have developed a system which I believe enables the student to learn the basics

I love to cater to each students needs. That's why I love tutoring because I can do this. Some students are visual learners, some learn by hearing, and some by doing. I incorporate all of these into my tutoring. I want to see all of my students not only get good grades but to truly grasp the concepts. As an undergraduate I started to tutor Chemistry in 2007. Since then I have tutored Chemistry to many different students in one-on-one and large group sessions. I have submitted by certification to be accepted by the State of Florida Department of Education and am awaiting confirmation. While in college I made straight A's for about 3 years, excelling in the sciences. I am very experienced with General Chemistry labs and lecture sessions. I am currently the Science Teacher at the First Academy Classical School program where I teach Biology and Chemistry part-time.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Speech Language Pathology field as an Assistant. I graduated 11 years ago from University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus. During my bachelor's degree I took some curses of American Sign Language. From 8/1998 to 2/2002 I worked in Clinica de Terapias Pediatricas working in one on one basis with students to get them improve in the areas of speech, language and comprehension. While I was working with them I used to help the students in all school matters like math, language arts and sciences. After that time I took some time and started giving tutorials at home to students of elementary school having them improving every single area seeing results from D to B. I love teaching and working with children. I believe for my experience that all kids can learn but in their own ways and time. This means that there are approximately three kinds of learning:

I like to teach students in a way that they can relate to. Talk to them about their futures and what they would like to be when they grow up or when they graduate. I like to propose real life situations where they might have to or need to use math. I like to get to know them and learn about their interests and help them see how a certain subject could help them. I believe its about getting on their same level, gaining their respect and having them being comfortable with you. I have a proven track record of helping students succeed and having a different outlook on learning. I am a graduate from the University of Central florida in Civil Engineering. Obtaining my degree has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math and science. In addition I am fluent in the Spanish language. I have over two years of work experience in an engineering environment. For the past year I have b

When I begin tutoring a new student, my first objective is for us to get to know each other. The student will not be able to receive very much from me until he/she is comfortable with me. Once they feel that I care, they open up and the learning really begins! When I really get a feel for the personality and whatever particular challenges are unique for this person in this class, I am able to determine the best way to communicate the subject and improve the skills. I like to think outside the box to find the best way for that student to have that "got it" moment! Literally all my life I have been asked by students, parents and teachers to help students who were having trouble. I get tremendous fulfillment from watching someone who has been frustrated finally "get it." In addition to teaching music lessons, tutoring all subjects, and homeschooling my own two children, I have worked for th

As an avid tutor I was required to follow the avid tutoring format. Before I joined the program I was unaware of what exactly this entailed. The avid program suggests groups of 5-7 students gather around a table with the avid tutor being placed at the head of the table. My job is not to tutor, but to rather facilitate the learning as students take turns proposing a tutorial question. This proved difficult because several instances I felt the need to "break" the rules in order to truly help a student. From this experience I gained my own "style" of teaching, and it is one that caters to individual needs and individual personalities in order to relate to students on a more personal level. As a recent college graduate from the University of Central Florida I know what it takes to face a difficult situation and make the best of it. My first two years at a local community college were spent

During my undergraduate studies at the Wilkes Honors College at Florida Atlantic University, I have gained a passion for learning about math and the social sciences. I have earned a bachelor degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a concentration in Environmental Studies. I have taken math courses ranging from College Algebra to Calculus II to Math for Liberal Arts. I have used statistical sampling for my undergraduate research thesis. In addition, I have learned to hone my research and literary skills through the many articles, books I have read and written papers that have been assigned. I am comfortable tutoring math, biology, and economics as well as a few other areas in the social and biological sciences. Through working for youth camps and volunteering I have gained a passion for teaching and encouraging youth to develop themselves into successful leaders, and it is something
