Experience Summary
I have been teaching for seven years-mostly math and some language arts. The math teaching included geometry, algebra 1, algebra 2, basic high school math and middle school math. One year my students had the highest improvement in standardized math test scores in the district, for the lower level students. My student test scores have always been high so I retained the scores. I tutored psychology for two years in college for a Buffalo State College program called SEEK, and received many compliments from the students. In Rutherford County, TN, I worked with medically homebound students and found I was very good working with the disabled students. I am also fluent in the Spanish language.
Teaching Style
I like to have the students actively participating in the lessons. They enjoy working out the lesson examples and problems on the media that is used so all of the class can see the successes and where we need more work and explanation. Hands on work is very valuable such as working with graphing calculators. The students enjoy manipulatives and technology where they can make their own discoveries. Math and the graphing calculator have become one in the same, so I use them constantly in the classroom.
