My comments on tutoring Piano: I taught myself how to play the piano two years ago, so I know how to teach the piano to other beginners. I know how to teach the basics. And I am very passionate about playing the piano, I also know a lot of music theory.

I would say my teaching style is really focused on the student and what they need. In school I was an average student never getting lower than a C or higher than in an A. So I really want to focus on listening to the student, especially because they probably are not heard at school. I want to make each subject interesting to the student, whether that means going out and playing basketball or chess or candy or anything the student absolutely loves. I want to attach each subject to a good memory, I don't want to pressure them or push them to just memorize facts that I know they will probably forget after they are tested. From my own personal experience I want any student I tutor to turn around and actually enjoy learning about a subject they are having trouble with. I am a Sophomore attending Sonoma State to receive my Teaching Credential and Bachelors in Liberal Arts within four years. I ... read more

I think children should be taught to respect eachother before beginning any type of curriculum and to practice safety habits as well as learn their surroundings then the teaching begins. I integrate the them across the curriculum, incorporating the major domains of language and literacy, mathematics, science the arts, phsical development, and personl social development. I believe children love structure and need structure to know what they need to accomplish and have a sense of direction. I graduated in 1984 from CSUF with a Bachelor in Music Education and my emphasis was piano. I took piano lessons from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music as a child and progressed this into my college years. I tutored adults in piano while studing for my bachelors. I learned that I enjoyed teaching younger students in private lessons. After my degree, I moved back to San Francisco and began to t

Since I have worked students with a wide variety of learning issues; I feel that I am well prepared to assess and deliver educational materials and instruction to any student. I understand that each student has his learning style and prefers specific modalities such as: games & puzzles, logical sequential, the arts, naturalistic, etc. Although those would not be the only modalities I would use to educate my students, I feel that I must acknowledge this and respond with a portion of the lessons directed at personal interest. Also, the student's learning environment is important. My students are the recipients of a positive climate where tangible rewards/awards are delivered along with praise, emotional support and encouragement. I have been in the field of education for approximately 14 years of which the last 8 years have been special education. I have worked with students of all ag

Every student has a unique skill level and learning style, and I believe tutoring is an opportunity for me to help that student learn in his or her own unique way. I believe an engaged student will get the most out of tutoring, so I like to ask questions to check for understanding and I try to make the subject more interesting by highlighting the significance of what he or she is studying. One technique I often use is making summaries of concepts and procedures that the student can refer to when answering similar problems in homework or reviewing before a test. I love to teach. I am easy going, patient, and I am dedicated to helping students reach their full potential. As a recent college graduate, I was motivated to study Physics because I find the fundamental nature of the physical world fascinating. In addition to my B.S. in Physics, I also minored in Religious Studies and this course

I enjoy tutoring because I find it rewarding to build relationships with students and observe their progress. I recognize that it is crucial to build rapport with students in order to gain their trust and respect, and as a result, I try to discover my students’ goals and interests. Once a student realizes that I genuinely care about her success, she is more likely to work hard and obey my instructions. In addition, I am a patient individual, which is a useful quality to have when one is having difficulty getting a student to comprehend a particular concept. Furthermore, I make sure to praise my students for their hard work because I know that low confidence can inhibit successful learning. I graduated cum laude from the University of California, Irvine with a BA in history and minors in biology and psychology. Earning a history degree required me to write several essays, including a thir
