Marine Biology is one of my top subjects!

I have worked in the aquarium industry for 19years. I have indepth knowledge, practical skills related to the marine science field. I grew up in a VA suburb of Washington, DC and spent my summers and holidays from college as a page, intern, and tour guide in the US Capitol. I have a passion for learning that I would love to share with students in need. My most recent job as Associate Curator at the Georgia Aquarium required that I have indepth knowledge of a wide variety of marine and freshwater habitats, ecology, fish ID, water chemistry, and management of a team of biologist.
I think science is fun and exciting. I like to teach with a hands on approach.

With 7 years of international and U.S-based teaching, tutoring, and training experience, I am at ease teaching multiple subjects to individuals and entire classes. As an undergraduate student I was always in the top ten percentile of my math, chemistry and biology classes, and as a result, I tutored fellow college students in those respective subjects. After earning my bachelor degree in biology, I worked as an educator at the South Carolina Aquarium where I taught interactive classes to kindergarten, middle school and high school students. Reflective of my disposition, immediately in order to establish a conducive learning environment in which the student feels comfortable, I try to employ a mellow, patient, open-minded and light-hearted atmosphere. I very much enjoy teaching, and try to make it so my student(s) enjoys learning. I was once asked by a student, "Are you a Biology teacher?" I replied, "No, just a student." She replied, "You should be." Generally I review and outline the material before-hand.
