As a Director of Marketing in the banking industry, I researched and wrote a training manual on quality customer service, selling and cross selling. I introduced copies for staff personnel and held training sessions on these topics including staff participation, tests and followup assessments. During college, I swam varsity, an experience that taught me the patience and time management required to balance a rigorous academic schedule with the physical strain of a full-time sport. Later, I found that my personality and ability to work well with others was more helpful out of the water. During my 4th year, I coached the club swim team, and then moved up to assistant coaching the varsity team during my 5th year. I was able to understand the difficulties students were having and helped them with their work as well as helping them manage their schedules. As an undergraduate student I was always in the top ten percentile of my math, chemistry and biology classes, and as a result, I tutored fellow college students in those respective subjects. After earning my bachelor degree in biology, I worked as an educator at the South Carolina Aquarium where I taught interactive classes to kindergarten, middle school and high school students. I also worked for the Leadership Development Program at the College of Charleston where I co-facilitated student leadership classes.
