While currently finishing high school I have some experience in tutoring. Most of my experiences include: reading, spelling, writing and public speaking. I have worked mostly with grades 5 and under but as a high school student, I am familiar with curriculum above those ages. Although I have some experience I am still a beginning tutor and hope to further my experience while enriching the lives of young students and helping them to succeed.

I am kind of new to teaching. I have taught my little brother everything he knows, and I've been told I have a really good way of teaching. Younger students catch on very quickly to what it is I am teaching. If they don't catch on quick, then no problem. I'm very patient and never give up until a student understands the concept. I am very easy to get along with, so the student will have no problems with me. When I teach I also learn from my students. I am open to ideas and creativity. I am patient and I believe a child should never be forced to learn. Learning should be exciting and it is the right of a student to progress at his or her own pace.
I graduated with a degree in English while devoting time teaching kids and even adults martial arts. Also, I have tutored many of my younger cousins during their elementary school years and currently middle school as well. I have published two poetry books and am planning on writing a third book. My first aim when I am working with students is to establish a rapport - being a college student always helps. I am patient in the classroom and try my best to tackle problems/questions from new angles if students don't seem to understand; I have spent much time working with non-native English speakers, which has enabled me to develop an intuitive sense of where a particular misunderstanding might originate. I find students write best when they respond to personal dilemmas or questions, and teach that reading and writing are one of the best ways to become empowered citizens.
