While currently finishing high school I have some experience in tutoring. Most of my experiences include: reading, spelling, writing and public speaking. I have worked mostly with grades 5 and under but as a high school student, I am familiar with curriculum above those ages. Although I have some experience I am still a beginning tutor and hope to further my experience while enriching the lives of young students and helping them to succeed.

I believe in guiding the student to find the answer foir themselves through the use of props or examples. I also would try to impart the skills that have made me successful in my educational career. I have no formal experience. I am employed by a church to provide child care during the service. The experience I have is with my own children and my extensive tour of the community college system. I passed each of the subjects that I have chosen at college level. It is my goal to continue to Master's level and teach college. I am attempting to gain experience in teaching.

I want a student to have as much hands on practice as possible. I work as an accountant and have been in the field for over twenty years. I began my career in accounts payable and took advantage of my employer's offer to pay for my college degree. It was worth going to school nights and working during the day as I was promoted to Accountant shortly before I graduated. I've since worked in various places and have had the opportunity to continue learning. The more knowledge you have the more valuable you are to employers.

In a one-on-one situation, I prefer dialogue. Assuming the student does the assigned work before the session, I find that a informal, relaxed conversation on the subject matter at hand encourages the student to further explore the addressed topic. If I am familiar with the student's extra-curricular interests, I attempt to relate the subject matter to such interests. I find that questioning the student in a conversational manner produces the best results, as opposed to the more stringent (i.e. boring) task of fill-in-the-blank worksheets. For writing assignments, I ask the student to write a paragraph which we then go over line-by-line so the student has immediate feedback on any errors. Having homeschooled my children (eldest is attending a top 20 public university)and volunteering extensively in the school community, I have become familiar with a wide variety of learning styles. M

All childern have the capacity to excel. It requires discovering the ways a student learns best (visual,auditory etc.) and applying that to teaching techniques with the expectation of success. I teach every lesson with a verbal, a visual, and written instruction so a student has every opportunity to retain knowledge and instruction. I love teaching and talking about grammar and literature and can pass that same love on to students as I have in the past. While earning my degree I worked as a pre-school teacher creating lesson plans and activites that were age appropriate. I have two years experience in public school teaching English for grades 9-12, and one year experience teaching journalism, art, yearbook and English in a private school.
