Since I was about six years old I have been going to the Santa Cruz Shakespeare festival. I love Shakespeare and I can understand it almost fluently. I also blended two of Shakespeare's plays in high school and created Much Ado About Macbeth. I would say my teaching style is really focused on the student and what they need. In school I was an average student never getting lower than a C or higher than in an A. So I really want to focus on listening to the student, especially because they probably are not heard at school. I want to make each subject interesting to the student, whether that means going out and playing basketball or chess or candy or anything the student absolutely loves. I know Shakespeare inside and out, with more than 25 years in the theater. I assess the student's level of mastery by listening to parents, communicating with the student (in whatever appropriate way needed) and then doing some basic testing. I would describe my teaching style in terms of the activity, belaying. Slack is given to the rope at times so that the climber may advance, or traverse, the face of the mountain. When the climber feels tired, or incapable, the rope needs tightening so the climber stays secure.
