A Little Bit About Me...

The beginning of everything, I've got three younger sisters and there has always been a fair amount of helping out where they're concerned. I've babysat since I was twelve and for the past few years I've worked as a nanny. My comments on tutoring Shakespeare : Since I was about six years old I have been going to the Santa Cruz Shakespeare festival. I love Shakespeare and I can understand it almost fluently. I also blended two of Shakespeare's plays in high school and created Much Ado About Macbeth.

I am a Sophomore attending Sonoma State to receive my Teaching Credential and Bachelors in Liberal Arts within four years. I have over seven years experience teaching within a classroom, and teaching students one on one. I really love to teach and I not only can teach mostly everything in an elementary school, and some subjects in middle school and high school, but I also have a lot of experience in extracurriculars. I have thirteen years of experience in a private art class, studying sketching, acrylic painting, oil painting, also a little sculpting. During high school I had two years of solo vocal classes and three years of choir. My sophomore through senior year I studied under my choir director who has many credentials including a two masters and one doctorate all in various vocal and musical theory studies.

Shakespeare is one of my top subjects! Acted in and directed several of Shakespeare's plays in the Bay Area and in New England. Shakespeare's work can be approached as theatrical literature or as poetry - and as both. Study includes scansion, and content and language analysis.

I'm a fairly intense and mellow person. Focus on specifics comes from an understanding of the goals and overall needs of a given project. Who's my audience and what details do I need to gather to make my point or reveal my position? I prefer leading students to answers using questioning and on-your-feet-experience.

Writing and reading has always been a constant in my life. I've worked as a writer for two magazines (in India) and have helped edit many papers and articles for non-profit organizations. For the past ten years I have worked for a non-profit organization as Staff Writer and Programs Officer and I had to use my writing skills to generate reports, proposals etc. While working full-time I was able to write two books of poetry (published by Apogee Press in Berkeley, CA) and I have just finished a non-fiction book.
